G.R. Gritt is a Juno award-winning songwriter and musician, a NOMFA nominated recording engineer, and a producer. They are passionate about exploring the emotional and cultural core of their heritage as a non-binary, queer, and mixed Anishinaabe artist. They reclaim space through songs that show that intersectional identity is expansive and not to be divided into parts. They’ve been honoured to receive Folk Music Ontario’s “Song from the Heart” award in their Political category, and their song “Ancestors” featuring Kimmortal ranked #6 on Sirius XM Indigiverse’s year-end Top 20 Countdown. You can find them in their home studio in Northern Ontario, producing Smokii Sumac’s much-anticipated debut album “Poems to Come Home to”.
